Us to God: Worship and prayer

Start this session with song and prayer. Some weeks, you could also make time for prayer requests and ask women to share prayer items.

Me to us: Sharing

Choose one of the questions below to share your stories. If the group consists of more than eight people, divide into smaller groups.

  • How have you experienced God’s kindness?
  • In what situations do you struggle to be kind?
  • Share about a time when someone was unkind towards you. How did their unkindness make you feel?
  • Share about a time when someone was unkind towards you. How did their unkindness make you feel?

God to us: Preaching

Kindness is a feeling that leads to action.
Kindness is a feeling that causes you to do good deeds. Kindness cannot remain inside without showing itself on the outside. The Bible often refers to the kindness of God or Jesus towards people. However, kindness is also found in people (1 Corinthians 13:4 and Galatians 5:22).

All Christians should be kind, but it is also a special spiritual gift.
Since it is part of the fruit of the Spirit, it is a quality which all Christians should have. We should help all who are in need. But some people seem to have a special gift for showing kindness.

Kindness is shown in a compassionate way.
We read in Romans 12:8, “Whoever shows kindness to others should do it cheerfully.” Some of the other translations of this verse say that whoever shows mercy should do it with cheerfulness. Someone who shows mercy is helping other people in a kind and compassionate way.

We to the world: Growing questions

Choose one or two of the questions below that will help the group grow in their church, community and lives.

  • How can we make sure our feelings of kindness become kind actions?
  • What do you think is the difference between kindness as a fruit of the Spirit and kindness as a gift of the Spirit?
  • How does our attitude influence in our acts of kindness?
  • How can we make sure our feelings of kindness become kind actions?
