Liberty in Captivity Lesson 8

Testimonies

There is nothing as powerful as a personal testimony. It’s a great way to lead someone to Christ, as well as encourage him or her that there is hope after experiencing some “hard times” just as you had, yet with God’s help you pulled through. Sometimes it may seem as if the person is not interested or listening, but God will imprint the necessary words in their hearts to have the desired impact.

People are drawn to “success stories” that others have experienced and that are similar to their situations, things they can relate to. In prison, where you are surrounded by people from all walks of life, with different backgrounds and circumstances, God will use you with your past to encourage those who have not experienced a breakthrough in that area yet. God will place people in your path that need to hear your testimony if you make yourself available to share it.

  1. What testimony do you have to share?
  2. Have you shared it with anyone or are you afraid of judgement?
  3. Do you believe that miracles can multiply when you share your testimony?

Do not look down on the man who feels down today, you have not felt the blow that caused his fall!

Open your eyes and memorise …
1 John 5:11: “And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.”

Homework
Take an hour of just sharing testimonies with each other, recent or past. It does not matter, because testimonies encourage and benefit others.

God says …
Thank you for trusting Me with your testimony … Sharing it is like planting a seed and walking away. I will do the rest. What do you have to lose? Some people have no-one else to depend on, only Me. That is when I do my best works!
