Liberty in Captivity Lesson 4

Prayer

Have you ever tried to make a telephone call and the line is engaged all the time? Or you reach an answering machine that says, “Your call will be answered. You are number seventeen in the queue.” How does it make you feel? Frustrated, angry, irritated? Do you know that when you need to talk to God, you have instant access to his throne room? You won’t get an engaged signal, or an answering machine, or have to wait in a queue. God listens to you and hears your prayers. A call to God does not cost you anything, except words from your heart. You have God’s private number and you can discuss anything with Him at anytime!

Prayer acknowledges your awareness of God. It lets you know that God cares and pays attention and that He looks after you. It is believing that you will have what you need. If you need a broken tooth fixed, you go to a dentist, because you have the faith that the dentist knows how to fix it. In the same way, you go to God with life issues, because you KNOW that He knows how to fix all things. Continue to pray daily!

  1. Can you remember the last telephone call you made? Whom did you call?
  2. Did the person promise to help you and then disappoint you?
  3. Will you make a call/say a prayer to God in future before you put your trust in man?

The distance between your problem and the solution is the distance between the carpet and your knees!

Open your eyes and memorise …
Luke 11:10: “For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.”

Homework
Draw a picture that shows you making a call (a prayer) to God. What will you tell Him and ask Him? Write it down next to the picture.

God says …
Call unto Me my son, for I am committed to answering all your questions!
